I finally had some time to sit down and read “The Blanco River” by Wes Ferguson @wesoftexas and fell in love with this river even more because of it. Wes writes about everything from the headwaters to its rich history. He takes you with him on his own journey discovering every corner of the river from the geology of the narrows to the flora and fauna in the Halifax Ranch. And don’t let the name fool you the river, just like the people he meets are as colorful as you can imagine.
The river is also an extremely healthy fishery. You have shots at catching largemouth, smallmouth and Guadalupe bass, as well as several species of sunfish, carp and cichlids. After your visit you’ll understand just why it’s pronounced Blanc- Oh!
